There are many reasons we may lose eyebrows or eyelashes.

Some reasons are simple - we've been overplucking or pulling them out.
Stop. But this isn't always as easy as you think.
Highland Trichology has treatments that can help stimulate growth in eyebrows using Platelet Rich Plasma injections and a series of hair follicle treatments but understanding what is causing it is key.
Otherwise, scratching can cause breakage and furthermore scalp damage. An itchy irritated scalp making us scratch is never welcome but completely treatable using the Perfect Product Match service we offer. Looking at your scalp under Trichoscopy we take an expert look at your scalp and see what scalp care is best suited for you, before analysing mids and ends and creating a perfect product match to both grow your hair, maintain scalp health and promote healthy ends. Choose products with Vitamin E and fatty acids to help hydrate hair, reduce breakage and protect your ends alongside clinically recommended treatments to promote hair follicle health.
Eyelashes?
Some people pull these out too - it's called Trichotilliosis... previously known as Trichotillimania and can be done knowingly or unknowingly for various underlying reasons. It helps to figure out which camp you fall into and help is available through various support groups. We do not offer PRP on eyelashes.
In general, avoid rubbing your eyes, take makeup off gently by soaking to loosen makeup lightly first and condition regularly using eyelash safe serums. There are prescribed medications available for topical use on eyelashes. be cautious of any eye or skin irritation caused by serums or medications and talk to your GP or provider.
There are many temporary fixes for eyelash loss including false eyelashes or semi permanent lashes - do your homework on your supplier or provider as glues can irritate and not all products are created equally. I generally stay away from anything not made in the EU specifically due to the number of things banned that the US and other countries have not. The protection level offered to cosmetics is far superior. This includes supplements too...stay safe. And remember don't supplement just for the sake of it - make sure you've been tested to know what you're deficient in as over-supplementation can also cause hair loss. Highland Trichology offers private blood testing and interpretation.
Medical Conditions
Other lesser known reasons may be causing your eyebrows or eyelashes to fall out include some forms of alopecia including but not limited to Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia, Alopecia Areata or Post/Persistent Chemotherapy Induced Alopecia.
In all instances it is important to reach out for help as soon as you notice this loss as some alopecias can be aggressive and qualitative treatment is best used in early stages.
Treatments and advice are available for these conditions but first and foremost we sincerely recommend reaching out to a support group such as Alopecia UK for support in your area in learning about dealing with your condition whilst listening and understanding how it can affect you on a personal level from others who suffer from the condition what route they have taken.
