The face behind Highland Trichology....

I began working in hair salons at the age of 19 years old before a brief gap to pursue my LLM International Business Law from Aberdeen University, I soon came back to my true passion and skill that is helping others who have experience hair loss particularly, and navigating the world out there that still deems hair loss as taboo. It's been 10 years now and I am more passionate and determined than ever.

Based in Inverness, I carry out investigations, lab tests, results analysis, bespoke scalp treatments, specialist wig and topper fittings, platelet-rich plasma injections, microneedling, specialist hair colour services to minimise damage, provide nutritional services, menopause help and specialise in various types of adjunct therapies including red light laser therapy and collagen induction therapy. I am also certified by European nutraceuticals and supplements suppliers to recommend and supply vitamins, minerals and nutritional aids for individual needs. Every day is different and every week is busy.....

For women, hair loss is seen as a taboo subject - we don't talk about it. Yet mothers experience hair loss after childbirth, hair loss as we enter different stages of our reproductive lives, hair loss through poor nutrition, stress, poor hair extensions installations, poor gut health, post-injury, side-effects of medication, post-surgery, lack of sleep and over supplementation....and yet to lose out hair is one of the most personal causes of grief we can experience. We give so much and what's seen as 'our beauty' diminishes. I grew up around female hair loss and have experienced and recovered from it myself and I can tell you, You Are Beautiful.

Forget the silly hair-loss shampoos and conditioners you see on adverts, magic hair growth serums your social media app pops up, and all the bogus treatments out there - they don't work! First and foremost, everybody's hair loss, scalp disorders and individual biomes are different - there is no 'one size fits all' magic fix and the cosmetic companies just keep pushing out the next line of re-packaged 'hope in a bottle' without helping you understand THE ROOT CAUSE why this is happening and how to actually fix it! If the cosmetic industry had found the 'magic hair loss product' by now...why do they pump out 1000's of products a year?? Because you're buying them.

Forget the brand ads, the social media hype, the newest shiniest bottle...What we do is help you understand why this is happening to you and help you become you again, make you feel like the person again who wants to look in the mirror and smile again... And believe me, I am compassionate in what you are going through and I genuinely want to help.

Men are not impenetrable to this sense of grief either. The pressure on young, middle aged and older men to hold onto their perceived sense of vitality, youth, to feel attractive....the social pressures, depression and emotional devastation hair loss can bring is not resigned only for women. I increasingly see many young males through our doors, battling the peer jibes of losing hair young, some as young as 16 years old. One young man had lost all of his hair by the time he went to college age 20.

But I can help. We can help.

My goal is to help as many people as I can to understand their hair loss and scalp disorders, diagnose and treat to recover their healthy hair and scalp and give back to them the piece that was taken away. A healthy body and hair. Whilst I am not a medical professional I do work with medical professionals across Scotland and believe, with them, that to truly heal the hair and body we need a science backed holistic approach. No hair-loss voodoo snake-oil sellers. Real science, simple evidence based studies and with a lot of hard work.....results.

And that's my first Blog. This is who Highland Trichology is. And we're here to help...
