Taking the first step to uncovering our hair and scalp health by booking an Initial Consultation with a Registered Trichologist is one of the best things we can do to get on top of understanding what is happening to our hair and scalp, why it is happening and how best to move forward in treating these to positively influence how we look but also how we feel on a daily basis.

Taking the first step : First book you appointment with our Registered Trichologist - this can be online for a preliminary diagnosis but an in-person face to face is exactly the same price and will include a Trichoscopy exam where we look in detail at your hair and scalp at close magnification.

We will then email you a Pre-Consultation Information Request to gather background details about yourself, your hair or scalp concern, how long your have been experiencing this, any medications or supplements you may be on....general questions that will help the Trichologist get to know you and factors impacting what you are going through. This should be returned by email no later than 48hrs prior to your confirmed appointment.

On the day: During a face to face appointment we will go over some background details, probe further to gather more details where applicable before having a look at your hair and scalp from macroscopic and microscopic view. There are many simple scientific trichological tests that can quickly be carried out when examining and we will talk you through everything, explaining everything before and as we go. Tests may vary person to person depending on what they are experiencing but are quick and painless and tell your Trichologist a lot about your hair health. Next we look at your scalp in close magnification with the Trichoscope - a fascinating tool where we can see you hair follicles and help diagnose conditions without the need for biopsy. You will see you scalp in a way you have never before!

Joining the dots then leads your Trichologist to deliver a preliminary diagnosis depending on whether any blood tests have been recommended. Everybody is different and treatments specifically suited to your hair or scalp concern will be set out. We then set out a recommended Treatment Plan to start your journey to hair health and book any follow-up consultations where treatments or blood test results can be talked through and best steps set out. Highland Trichology is the only Registered Trichologist in the whole of the Scottish Highlands experience and certified in both carrying out private blood tests but interpreting them specifically for Trichology. We read them differently from your GP so even if you have had some recent blood tests taken by your GP you can bring them in and we can talk them over.

Your whole appointment should take about 1.5hrs and refreshments and rest facilities are available. Please let us know if you have any allergies or would like your Trichologist to wear a face covering prior to your appointment.

So relax and know you are in expert hands, we are not there to sell you magic shampoos that likely won't fix your hair or scalp problems. We work based on clinical diagnosis and treatments and our Consultant Trichologist is registered under a professional body the Association of Registered Trichologists which holds us to a professional and ethical code of conduct.

Your Trichologist looks forward to meeting you.

Thank you.
